Why a Down Economy is a Good Thing

Whoa! What kind of title is that? Am I completely nuts? Have I lost it? Do I enjoy hearing about people being out of work?

None of the above. But I am going to defend my stance on writing a title like this.

First of all, I should state that to use the term “down economy” in the title only perpetuates the bad news. That’s not something I personally believe in.

The fact remains however, that enough since enough people are giving their attention to it, it presents an opportunity for one with the entrepreneurial eye. In other words, because so many people think it’s bad out there, anyone who can rise above that thinking has the ability to see opportunity where everyone else doesn’t.

It’s true that jobs are being lost more than they have been in a long time. It’s true that people are thinking about their money more than they ever have before. It’s true that people are no longer looking to unsteady employers for so called “job security”.

And therein lies the reason for the title.

It’s all a Matter of Perspective

During a boom time, the vast majority of people are doing OK. They have jobs, the bills are getting paid, and hey, maybe there’s even enough extra at the end of the month to go on a few nice vacations.

When everything’s good, people aren’t worried. They’re not counting their pennies. They’re not getting creative. They’re generally not thinking about their financial situation – at least as much as they should be.

There has to be a need first.

Listen to this quote:

Fortunes are not made in boom times. That is merely the collection period. Fortunes are made in depressions or lean times when the wise man overhauls his mind, his methods, his resources, and gets in training for the race to come.                                                                                                          George Wood Bacon

Will You Rise Above?

It’s true that many people are concerned about their jobs and their finances. The politicians and the media have done an amazing job at whipping everyone into a panic. Everyone is looking to someone else for answers.

They’re not turning to their number one asset they have – their own mind.

So will you rise above that?

By living in this “soft economy” you have the opportunity to become a true leader. As you ignore the fear and go about taking control of your own future, you’ll realize you can put yourself in a very enviable position.

As others see you going about, taking charge, and securing your own future, they will be drawn to you. You can then share your leadership with the world and people will follow you. You can teach others to control their fear about what’s going on by taking control of their own lives and focus on making a difference.

A Handout Will Never Provide an Abundant Life

I’ll say it again. A handout will never provide an abundant life. And it will never create a truly independent life or a life of freedom.

You have a choice now. You have the chance to be one of the millions who are looking to somebody else to “bail” them out.

OR, you can choose to be one of a select group that will take advantage of this time to grow your own empire.

With the knowledge now available on growing your own business (offline or online), or raising money for your cause, it’s never been easier to do so. There has also never been a better time.

Robert Kiyosaki, Author and Speaker, has noted that, “More millionaires are made during depressions and recessions than at any other time.”

The question is, will you be one of those millionaires?
